Today we are launching our first template! Feast your eyes on the Photo Background template (you can see it at the end of this post). Yes the name is simple and generic but that’s all part of the plan for world domination. Well maybe not world domination but it is part of our plan. While we’d love to brand each template we think we’ll have more success if we describe what the template is, in the name of the template.
The inspiration for this template is pretty straight forward. We looked through the LeadPages.net template marketplace and didn’t see any super simple landing page templates with a large Photo Background. Also, we thought if we went with a simple opt-in button in the middle of the page and limited customization options for the customer that we’d have a high-converting template.
Which brings me to another point. While we’re all about great design, sometimes function trumps form when it comes to driving landing page conversions. We try to infuse all of our templates with good design but at the end of the day LeadPages.net customers want landing pages that convert, regardless of what they look like. With that being said we tried to choose a fairly generic photograph for the background image, from an awesome free resource called unsplash.com, so customers could use the photo if they didn’t have one of their own.
Building the template took a little more effort than we expected simply because it was the first time learning how to integrate with the LeadPages platform. But it also took a little longer because we stupidly didn’t realize there was documentation for building a template for the marketplace. Instead of using the awesome documentation, we downloaded the example template and tried reverse engineering it! Of course there is documentation but for some reason we couldn’t find it. So it took an extra couple of days but I feel like doing it the hard way made it a little easier to see how all the pieces fit together.
Below is a preview of our awesome new Photo Background template as well as a link to buy it from the LeadPages.net marketplace. We priced the Photo Background template at $7. From what we’ve seen on the LeadPages marketplace $7 seems to be the pricing floor so we thought we’d start there.
